Decluttering our homes, decluttering our lives, decluttering our planet.
What is sustainable living? Living in a way that doesn't damage our environment. Living in a way that could continue without dependence on foreign oil, cheap Chinese plastics, and huge landfills to bury our trash. A lifestyle that doesn't require pesticides, hormones, and thousands of miles of transportation, just to feed us. A lifestyle where our NEEDS are met, while we reconsider our WANTS.
We believe Canadians face unique obstacles, conditions, and responsibilities. We are stewards to approximately 9% of the world's renewable water supply. Stewards to vast wilderness and wildlife habitats. We travel vast distances between our cities. We endure cold harsh winters. Melting of the polar ice caps through global warming will affect our country in ways we can only begin to imagine. So we ask Canadians to examine their lives, not only in regards to their 'carbon footprint', but also in terms of survival, endurance, and sustainability.
Our aim is to show people how easy it is to make a difference to our environment, through patio gardening, composting, reducing electricity, using solar and wind power, planting trees, ways to improve air quality, reduce mosquito impact, reducing consumption, reducing trash... Ending the clutter!
We need to discuss what we can, and DO, do. Help teach one another how to accomplish more, personally, to save our planet.
We want people to discuss, plot and plan how to change our lives and most importantly our world.
Join our national discussion group & start posting! With permission, some helpful hints may be posted here on the main site. Write about your clutter, and your plans to reduce it. Share your gardening adventures. Are you increasing your organic intake? Stockpiling for winter? Planning to offset your grocery budget? Are you putting an end to consumerism in your life? Buying nothing? Nothing new? Nothing non-recyclable? We want to hear from you!
Are you wondering what to do about the effects of peak oil? Can't afford the prices at the pumps? Have you started walking more? Riding your bike? Switched to an electric or hybrid car? Gone back to horse & buggy? Or making plans for any of these ideas, or others? We want to hear from you!
Are you a slave to the hydro bill? Already offsetting your power use with solar or wind? Making plans? Switching to green power? Going off grid? We want to hear from you!
Join a group in your area to help ease the burden on our landfills.
Get to know your neighbours. Find local sources for all your needs.
Groups are set up by Province and Region. Click on the Groups by Area link, browse for your province, click on the province, again browse for your area, click on that link and join the group. It's really a lot easier than it sounds. Groups are currently set up for generalized regions across Canada. If there isn't one for your area yet, please email us and we will guide you through the process to get one started.
